The Brief

McDonalds hired the help of Viral Talent to raise awareness and generate excitement surrounding the re-opening of its outdoor sports scheme; McDonalds Fun Football. The Fun Football programme is designed for children interested in football, to develop their skills in a fun, safe and pressure-free environment. McDonalds were keen to drive sign ups among boys and girls aged 5-11.

The Approach

McDonalds planned to feature football and TV stars Jamie Redknapp and Alex Scott in the campaign. To complete the line-up McDonalds were interested in working with a well-known football related social media influencer who was in touch with the target audience. Viral Talent selected 11 year old Tekkerz Kid – one of the largest boy YouTubers in the UK. Tekkerz Kid was asked to come up with a number of football challenges that he could demonstrate at home, and then send the footage to Jamie and Alex for them to try. The content went live across IGTV, Reels and Stories.

The Results

The campaign was a great success and achieved high levels of engagement in the comments. Overall the content generated almost 100,000 impressions and 143 link clicks.
