challange

McDonalds hired the help of Viral Talent to raise awareness and generate excitement surrounding the re-opening of its outdoor sports scheme; McDonalds Fun Football. The Fun Football programme is designed for children interested in football, to develop their skills in a fun, safe and pressure-free environment. The scheme is making a return since its forced closure during the UK lockdowns and so McDonalds were keen to drive sign ups among boys and girls aged 5-11. McDonalds had a concept in mind for the campaign; the content was, of course, football focused and was to feature football and TV stars Jamie Redknapp and Alex Scott. To complete the line-up McDonalds were interested in working with a well-known football related social media influencer who was in touch with the target audience.

approach

Viral Talent selected 11 year old Tekkerz Kid – one of the largest boy YouTubers in the UK. Not only does Tekkerz Kid play for Birmingham City FC Academy, but his entire channel is dedicated to football.

Tekkerz Kid was asked to come up with a number of football challenges that he could demonstrate at home, and then send the footage to Jamie and Alex for them to try. Jamie and Alex’s attempts were also recorded and sent back to Tekkerz Kid to film his reactions. The content was edited together to produce digital activations for Instagram - IGTV, Reel and Stories – that include a call-to-action encouraging viewers to sign up to the programme using a direct link. Tekkerz Kid presents the content in his native style to attract his usual fan base.
